Burrah Canyon Hike

Hike through one of the most stunning areas in the Wadi Rum Desert without climbing a mountain!

If you like hiking and exploring parts of Wadi Rum on foot, however don't really fancy going up a mountain, this hike is perfect for you!

This tour can be done as a half-day or a full-day tour, as well as be added to one of our jeep tours.

During the full day tour, we will start walking from the camp towards Burrah Canyon, which is also an amazing trek over sand dunes, crossing different red and white sand, and some rocks. We walk through stunning desert scenery and towering sandstone cliffs of different colours, plus we will pass Mushroom Rock, one of the famous attractions of Wadi Rum, and also stop at a traditional Bedouin tent where you can listen to a 1500years old musical instrument made of goat skin.

Upon reaching Burrah Canyon the breathtaking natural beauty continues. The canyon is around 6 km long and walking slowly with some rests at nice shady spots we will spend around 3h inside. You will walk on white yellowish sand, and you will be amazed by very picturesque smaller as well as bigger mountains and rocks on both sides of the canyon, which is wide enough for cars to pass. It is absolutely beautiful, and hence a great experience to spend a long time in there by walking through it on foot. We will also have lunch somewhere along the way.

Later, we will walk back to the camp, a slightly different, but nevertheless stunning route through the desert.

You can add an overnight stay at our traditional Bedouin Camp, either the night before, or the night after the hike. It is also possible to go half way on one day (starting in the afternoon), then spend the night sleeping inside Burrah Canyon (all sleeping materials provided plus traditional Bedouin food around the fire), then continue walking back on the second day, finishing at around lunch time. For more details about staying overnight please see below under "extra add-ons".

For the half day tour, we will drive by car directly to Burrah Canyon.

You can also do a shorter Burrah trek in combination with any of our jeep tours, just contact us, and we will advice you.
